The mixture (formulation) experiments refer to studies where the responses act as a function of the proportions of each ingredient (component). The sum of the amounts of the ingredients is fixed.

The NemrodW software offers statistical experimental designs to allow investigation of unconstrained and constrained proportions of ingredients. The experimental design software has a specific approach in case of exploration around an existing mixture (as for example in case of robustness or improvement studies).

The software displays graphics to help the experimenters to analyse efficiently the data. To find the best compromise on several properties (response), the statistical design of experiments software makes use of desirabilty functions approach.

  Experimental designs

  - Component proportion screening designs.
  - Simplex lattice and simplex centroid designs.
  - Distance-based designs from vertices, edge centers, face centers, overall centroid in case of individual and relationnal constraints.
  - Study in the neighborhood of a reference blend.
  - Check points.
  Analysis

  - Regression analysis in components or pseudo-components.
  - 2D contour plots, 3D rotation response surfaces.
  - Components effect curves (Cox and Piepel directions).
  - Scheffé's or Cox's form model.
  - Desirability.
